Burn failure when writing DVDs (Vista)

    Hi folks

Is everyone able to create DVDs of their recordings from Vista's MCE, os is it just me that it's failing for ?

9 times out of 10, I get an application error when writing video files to blank DVDs using Vista’s MC. My system is up-to-date and even with the most recent cumulative update for Vista’s MC (KB950126), it’s still faulting.

I can copy data files to a DVD within MC or outside of MC in Vista. It’s only when making a video disk that it fails.

The error is “Program not responding: The Burn CD/DVD program has stopped responding and you will be returned to Windows Media Center” and then “Burn Failure: An error has occurred in burning the CD/DVD”, and this after maybe getting 3% into the process. The eventlog says: Application Error, Event ID 1000, and here are the two versions (before KB950126 and after KB950126):

    Before:
Faulting application SBEServer.exe, version 0.9.0.0, time stamp 0x47919535, faulting module atimcenc.dll, version 9.14.0.60829, time stamp 0x462e53a3, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00063054, process id 0x1720, application start time 0x01c8cd7a458117ba.

    After:
Faulting application SBEServer.exe, version 0.9.0.0, time stamp 0x47919535, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000b015d, process id 0x171c, application start time 0x01c8cd8a1081d968

    My setup:
STB is a PACE DC621KU connected to digital cable
OS: Vista Ultimate SP1 32 bit (Windows Experience Index 4.5, for what it's worth), all up-to-date and using the standard DVD decoder software
    RAM: 3.0GB
CPU: Intel Dual core 6400 @2.13GHz
    Motherboard: Intel DG965OT
    TV card: Hauppauge PVR150MCE
STB: NTL digital --> SCART --> SVIDEO into Hauppauge card
Graphics: Asus ATIRadeon X1650 at 1080p (512mb RAM dedicated, 1274mb shared system RAM, 1766MB total)
    Display panel: Wharfdale LCD47F1080P TV
    Confirmed as running at 1080p

    Thanks

    Frank

I don't burn DVDs from Media Centre
Gah... still not working. Which is a pity, as Vista-made DVDs look pretty polished.

I maed the mistake a while ago of buying Nero v7 only to subsequently find out that it deals with every video format under the sun... except .dvrms files.

Is there a good convertor to get Nero to work ? Or some other route I should be looking at ? DVRMSToolBox isn't my cup of tea, it works more like beta software than I'd like. MCEbuddy (mcebuddy.com) sounds fine, but can't take individual files (starts converting everything in the Recordings folder)
