Should the wildlife act be posted here. If it was a simple click of a button to add the act I'd think all would say yes and TBH i think it would have been posted up here long ago if that was the case but is there more to it than first meets the eye. Is Boards.ie putting them selfs out on a limb by giving such advice.

Would people like to see such legislation posted here for all to see?

    The Wildlife Act 1976

There you go. Direct link from the statute books, so no legal issues, bar possible mental readings of the act, and to be honest, Boards can't be held responsible for the insanity of others. There you have it in one-click form. Enjoy.

it would take somone longer to vote on this pole than it would to find the wildlife act on Google.

It would, presuming they knew it even existed. Need to also take into account new hunters with more enthusiasm than sense :)

Voted yes, and I'd like to also see any and all rules and regulations pertaining to hunting posted permenantly.

I've put a sticky at the top of the forum with links to laws in it. If you find any missing ones let me know.

Is your link up to date? I don't see any amendments from other years such as 2000.

What about derogation and other such items from the EU, and yes i know i never made ref to EU rules when asking about the wildlife act but i should have.

AFAIK the 76 act must be read in conjunction with any and all subsequent amendments and as such this link is not of of date but it is not amended with any changes since 1976,,, I could be wrong!

Also is it not the case that the wildlife services intend to compile such data into an easy to read single document by the year 2010? Did any one here that?

Laws in Ireland are not published in their amended form, the responsibility rests with the reader to read all related acts and understand which bits still apply and which don't. So for the Wildlife Act, you need to read the '76 Act and all acts that amend it and all acts that precede it which have not been repealed by it. It's a lot of work.

There's some work going on to roll up all of the criminal law into a single code, it's a long term project but should help eventually: http://www.criminalcode.ie/

Well... occasionally laws are reprinted with all amendments applied under the Statute Law (Restatement) Act 2002, but that's a very time consuming process as IRLConor explained, or as rrpc or myself could tell you first-hand since we both did up unofficial restatements of the various firearms acts. Minister McDowell promised that the Firearms Acts would be subject to such a restatement but that it would take time to get it done; personally, I wouldn't hold my breath because we'd be a long way down the priority list and such a restatement would be a ways down our priority list as well. I don't think one is even planned for the Wildlife Act.

The NARGC have a very good guide to the wildlife act which can be purchased. Every shooter should have one.
