Letter from Employer required for Dole?

Bit of a rambly question, but i'll try and keep this concise.

I've been trying to sign on for over a month now and after a meeting with a dole officer I was told that I would qualify if I got a credit form filled out from my old college. No problems with that, provided all the necessary forms, P45 from the last job, etc...

Now I've been told that I need to prove that I was working before I entered College or my claim won't get processed. Specifically I was told I need a letter from my first employer stating how long I worked there and confirming that I paid PRSI. The problem is that my first job was 8 years ago in a local shopping centre and they're being tediously slow in finding my records or helping at all.

I don't have any documentation from that time, P45s, P60s, old payslips or anything like that, so Im basically being left hanging here waiting to see if my old work comes through. My question is as follows: Is there any other documentation I could get which would suffice? Something from Revenue, like a tax history document or anything? This has been dragging out for quite a while and it getting extremely frustrating!

    Thanks for any help.

Go to the tax office and ask them to print out a copy of the P45 from that job and that should do!
