If the team is stuck and wont be able to race without you I would say go. Better to be able to compete than not compete at all.

How soon is the race? If its not for a few weeks you will have time to train enough to drop your time a good bit!

You'll only let a team down by not taking part.
If you pull out, they don't get to compete at all.

So better to show up, do your best, and make sure your team gets to take part.

racing is all about the fun element and in a relay people will test tehmselves to the level they want, so i would compete and be part of the team in it.
