    Hi everyone.

Iv been waiting for my Bonus to come in and its finally here,im planning on spending 1200 of it on a New Acoustic or semi acoustic Guitar.

Iv been playing for about 8 years but I really don't know much about guitars, I know how to play em (ish) but nothing technical. Spruce, nut, pine I dno what the difference is.

Iv had a lone of a Taylor for a month or so and i know i like it. Can anyone recommend a good model or make in my price range. I really want to get the best value for money so any tips or links to sites would be appreciated.

    Cheers

First off, don't spend your hard earned cash to quickly. Take your time, go around to stores and try out as many makes and models as you can get your hands on.

Like with everything else in life, it's 'different strolks for diffent folks'. It will all depend on the style of music you prefer (folk v blues etc) and the your predominate playing style/styles (fingerpicking, strumming etc).

Search the threads here and you will see a list of reviews on makes of guitars. Generally speaking, the quality of guitars among the top manufacturers is v high. However, there can be huge variances in in tone/action etc between individual models.

Personally, I prefer a handmade guitar to a manufactured one. I spent a good few months last year looking around and playing a whole host of new and second hand acoustic/semi acoustic guitars. I eventually settled on a fantastic second hand Irish Lowden guitar.
