Played Heritage at weekend. Savage course. Very tough. Long Par 3's. Rough is unplayable from. You have to be on the fairway. Loads of sand and water. But its very expensive. Resident rates of €95 or €135 if non resident. Didnt look busy and for a course in the middle of nowhere youd wonder how they can justify such green fees.

I played it a couple of months ago. I wouldn't normally pay a green fee like that and got a deal that included breakfast bap and soup after 9 holes for 90euro. Don't remember the rough being too bad then but I really liked the course. I thought it was lovely but definitely favours the longer hitter. Luckily I was driving pretty well that day. How did you find the greens? When I played they were much slower than they looked. I played PGA National last year and I would rate the Heritage the better of those two - Seve did a great job. It's just a pity about the sky high green fees at some of these courses.

Greens were in very good nick and yes, they were slower than some Ive played this year.

Yeah it's a beautiful course. I went to the Seve Trophy there last year and played it about a month later. The 9th and 18th are great holes. There's no shortage of bunkers! Looking forward to playing it again sometime.

I played here back in April. I would definatley rate it as one of the best/toughest (Parkland) in Ireland.
Got a great deal. 1 night stay, 2 games of golf, breakfast and Dinner = €250 (there was 8 of us).
If your loooking for a stay over ask for Tom in 'Events' Looked after us really well.

I like your style Harry. I play it a few times a year as a few guys at work are members and you get a 50% reduction which means that it costs €45 during the week. I think that even that is a bit expensive for a game of golf.
Most golf courses in the Midlands have an open day during the week. Portumna on Mon, Birr on Tuesday, Portarlington, The Heath, Roscrea on Wed, Mountrath on Thursday and Abbeyleix on Friday. These are all fine Golf Courses and the Open Days cost from €12 to €18 for a round and you are playing for prizes.
Remember you need a G.U.I. card to play any of these courses

I wonder could a thread/stickie be started for what people see as a good deal on green fees or open comps and and post it up .It can be your own club if you see fit .
