Male Eyebrow Waxing

    Hey dudes,

Anyone know anywhere in Cork where they do male eyebrow waxing as a common thing? ie; I won't be the only guy in there and feel like a right clown. I've always had a serious issue with feeling self conscious about my monobrow, and plucking just doesn't seem to do the business. Could anyone point me in the right direction to somewhere I'd be comfortable?

    Cheers,
    evil-monkey

I always thought that would be one of the most uncomfortable things to do. Not from a pain perspective, but like the person whose doing it knows that you feel bad about.

I've seen lots of men in the beauticians.
Just go anywhere they see all sorts! They are long passed caring about these things.
Eyebrows are the least embarassing thing you could possibly get waxed.

nearly all the day spa's or beauty salons these days
have men come in to get some kind of treatment
waxing is no different than a guy goin in for a massage:D
but if you are shy or nervous goin in on your own too one
mainly populated by women go in with one of your female friends
sure it'll give her something tooo giggle about anyway when you scream;)
all guys ar whimps when it comess to waxing!

Try googling it EM maybe? I am in the same boat as you and get unwanted hair removed every 6 weeks or so. Get the eyebrows shaped and my back done. Otherwise i take on the appearance of a werewolf....

I go to a barbers here in Galway that specialize in male grooming. Fat Tony's is a guy only place so no one feels out of place. There are no pink fluffy pillows, soft lighting, wanky music or pastel colours. No instead we have big screen tv with sky sports, mens mags to read and everything else man related except a bar!

As i say try some barbers down there, you might be surprised by what services they can offer you.

That place sounds handy out now so it does. Somewhere like that in Cork would be the job. Every 6 weeks you say. How long do the eyebrows last? I pluck them myself but you'd want to be at it every night to keep them in check that way.

Is there nothing that can be bought that permanently destroys the hair? Like a cream or.... acid, or somethin? :D

I also get the dreaded unibrow, and it's a pain! I can think of no reason why in the future I would like to grow that bad boy out, so permanent removal would be great

There is that whole electrolysis thing but again your back to the original question; where can I get this done without feeling like a complete muppet??

    Evil Monkey,
Try "Blue Daisy" in Oliver Plunkett Street. (You probably need to phone beforehand to book)

Blue Daisy eh?? why do you suggest them?? does it cater specifically to the, in my case, far less fairer sex??

first of all, let me say fair play for gettin rid of the mono- I don't like seeing this on dudes!

I wouldn't shy about going to a salon, I'm sure they get men going in. And seriously, you'll only be in there for 10 mins!

    Evil Monkey,
I don't know that they cater specifically to male persons - but apparently, they do accept male clients and not everywhere does.

Just lash it off yourself with a wax strip. :P

Plucking - now that takes bravery! Waxing is much quicker - threading quicker still. G'waaan, take the bull by the horns. (You might even meet your dream lady in there).

woo woo - threading?? what's this threading you speak of?? (i know that's probably a stupid question but at this stage i think i can't look much worse :p )

Threading is a method of removing unwanted hairs from small areas. Like eyebrows, upper lip, chin etc. Not really suitable for legs, bikini line or armpits. It is a very old method of hair removal originating in Asia. Two threads are twisted interestingly round the therapists fingers and she uses these threads to twitch out the hairs line by line. Tis quite painful - but very quick and gives a really nice "line" to yer eyebrows. (Even teeny very short hairs are removed).

How is your unibrow coming along?

You could try hair removal cream. You can find Veet for men in Boots now.Although I'm not sure if its meant for the face as opposed to other parts.

Any salon will be fine. You may be the only bloke their but most salon's cater to '1st timers' and are gentle!:D

I would suggest trimming them down with a trimmer before going in, this means just making the hair shorter not changing their shape. The reason for this is that bushy eyebrows can make it harder for the beautician to gauge shape etcetera.

Make sure that the underside of the brow is done as well - sort of eyelid area.

Not expensive - I am sure 10-15 euro on average. However factor being in every 4 weeks.

    Be Brave!
