Am I odd?

Ok so here's the deal. I'm a postgraduate student, living in Dublin. I like to consider myself reasonably well-adjusted but there are a couple of things which would make me doubt it sometimes. I have a rather unusual habit of going out for walks and listening to music, while essentially going into a daydream like state where I have these escapist fantasies of being an authority figure or the centre of attention of somebody very well respected. The music I'm listening to effectively acts as a soundtrack to these fantasies. It seems like there might be parts of my life that I'm unhappy with and am repressing this unhappiness. Any thoughts would be welcome, thanks.

Nope, you're not odd. I do that all the time. Well ok maybe we're both odd but thats not so bad. Hell music is the soundtrack to our lives! and sometimes you wanna just cut this scene out and bring in a whole new angle!

Let the fantasy free! No harm as long as you understand that its not reality! ;)

Well if you're odd, so am i :D i have a series of soundtracks on my mp3 player just for daydreaming too, and mine are waaaay more fun than yours :D I like having superpowers, my own airship and even being on different planets.

You mate, are normal. Anybody with a good imagination does this

that's not odd, tbh i'd love to be able to do that. to completely shut off the whole world revolving around you and to just let go.

it's something i'm striving to do, but is very difficult.

That actually sounds very healthy - it's a form of positive thinking.

Not odd in the slightest imo. I used to do the same myself a good few years ago...now that I think about it, mostly while I was doing my PhD.

It may be that at that stage in life we still feel like our lives haven't 'taken off'. Still in college, not earning a lot, going places but not financially. It's hard, especially when others around you of a similar age have full-time jobs, cars and seem to be moving up in the world.

Anyway, don't worry about it. The only time you should do is if you start 'acting out'. So if you find yourself in a shop buying a white coat and stethoscope and walking around hospitals trying to look important...then you might need to start worrying, other than that, enjoy but don't lose focus of your life. Get that postgrad finished and start researching career opportunities. :)

    Hey op

Your not odd at all so think no more about it.
    You're a normal person with a great imagination ;)
I have great fun with my imagination especially when it gets boring in the office:D
