Car alarm overide key

Ok so heres the scoop. bought a car a number of months ago and she's been sitting outside a while now. Went to start and battery was flat. Thats no problem got the jump leads out and connected her up. Heres where the problem laid:

It took several attempts due to the alarm triggering from being reset. I bought the car and was never given a over ride key for the alarm box in it. I asked the owner who quite frankly seemed confused and didn't even know such a thing existed. Is there anyway I can get a new over ride key made somewhere in case i need to disable the alarm in the near future? The number on the window of who fitted it is wrong (one digit short). I'd hate to be stuck in a car park with the alarm fob's battery dead in god knows where.

    Anyways all help/advice appreciated.

    What make alarm?
Is it a physical key or an electronic one?

Best bet is to find out who is currently supplying the alarms and give them a call.

I've been caught out by this - if the battery goes in the fob, you may need the key to re-teach the alarm after you replace it.
