Anyone going to Mondello parkm next weekend. Saw the event detailed in Irish Vintage Scene. Also see www.mondello.ie. Wondering if it would be worth a trip from Kerry - just to view, Mr2 not roadworthy at the moment.

Yeah I reckon it will be the Classic event of the year. Most clubs will have a presence there, it should be a fantastic day out !

What is the format here, cost, park & display, as in an individual driving up & getting to drive the track, parade style would suffice. Am a member of the IVS if should be relevant.

    Many thanks for any info...:)

There seems to be some confusion over the charges for clubs and who will be allowed on the parade laps on the track. I keep hearing different versions.

.............as far as I know each Club has 20 spaces for cars. These 20 will be allowed to do parade laps at normal road speed in procession. You can pay extra to do an actual "track day" lap.

I dont think you can turn up on the day and get into the paddock with your car, you need to have pre-booked with a Club and recieved your entry pack.

Thats the way I understand it but a quick call to either IVS or Mondello should clear it up.

I had a good time, even my gf like it!

I was somewhat disapointed not to be able to drive the mini down and then it was raining in the morning. Ended up getting a bus from dublin to naas and then tumbed a lift to mondello, same on the way back.

milod: where you racing the Tii? I was looking at some of them in the show area. I like the older bmw's

Bus!!?? Pity that - I had plenty of room in the tii - and the g/f brought her car just in case mine broke down!

I didn't race properly, but a bunch of '02s and MKi and II Escorts went out on the track after 11am for a 20 minute session. Mine is standard, i.e. not race prepared (it's the metallic grey-brown one with BBS alloys) but I had no problem passing the Fords :-D. Most of the 'race' was sideways though, it was still spitting rain and the track was soaked - but it was a blast all the same... The g/f lasted two laps before I had to drop her back into the pits!

I spun her once trying to keep up with a rally prepared '02 running proper race tyres :-]
