I am planning a weekend in the UK in early August. I was thinking of going to Liverpool or Manchester but can't make up my mind which city to go.
    Any advice?

I would say Liverpool its a much better city in my experience and has great nightlife,I know some Man Utd fans who stay in Liverpool instead of Manchester as they have a much better time in Liverpool.

I've heard good reports about the two cities. Think it will be Liverpool though.

Liverpool is booked. Got a decent price with Ryanair (€30 per bag is scandalous though). Can anyone recommend a hotel in city centre close to everything?

Willing to pay up to £100 per night. Like to stay somewhere decent when I go away and have a good breakfast in the morning.

Two for you to look at are the Marriott Hotel and Hope Street Hotel, both good spots.
