Old maps of Kildare

    Does anybody know where I would be able to find a map of Kildare from the C18th and C20th? One with the parish names and townslands would be ideal.

    Try your local historical society and archaeologists. Or the ordnance survey or the map libraries in TCD or UCD.

    Townlands and parishes don't change boundaries. Note that civil parishes are different from religious parishes.

    The Journal of the County Kildare Archaeological Society appears to have a few articles about maps. They probably don't include maps, but they may give references to where you might find them. Index here. Most local libraries have large map collections, and you could also try the Map Library in Trinity College.

    To my knowledge such maps can be bought from the Royal Irish Academy which are a few doors down from the Mansion House on Dawson Street in Dublin. Newbridge library should have copies also. They have an online website also just do a search for Royal Irish Academy.
