    Hi all,
Now I know one would need to be certified to even consider travelling to Turkey by road in the current climate with fuel prices so high, but I have to know can it be done, has anybody done it or has anyone any information?
I have googled it but not getting much feedback, just a blur of ferry companies and it appears quite difficult to create a possible itinerary.
Anyway like I said it is just an option I am looking at.
Any advice or input would be appreciated.

A guy I worked with drove to Eastern Romania from Dublin several times.

I was planning to drive to Athens for the Olympics but broke my leg. I'be been to just outside Verona

I don't know how getting across the border from Greece is? if it's a matter of being just a wait and presuming you're non-greek the turk's might let you in easily enough.
If so I'd drive to Brindisi at the heel of italy and ferry across to greece.
2500km and another 500km in Greece and then however far in Turkey. this is only 4 countries, France Italy Greece and Turkey.

the other option is either going through Serbia and other Former yugoslav countries, which I'd be hesitant and might complicate paperwork - visas and car insurance etc.

I presume you're planning on spending some time there, not a fortnight?

1200km a day is about the max possible with two drivers, and that's on motorway, which I don't think there'd be too much of in Greece.

I don't know how Irish Insurance would work for turkey, it has to cover you in the EU.

Anyway getting from Ireland to France I'd recommend Brittany ferries from Cork to Roscoff. went irish ferries before and their ship was kip. they've got a new ship - ten years old or so. brittany ferries was brand new in '05
Fuel is dearer in france than here. and tolls are high. www.mappy.fr

No idea of Italy - Greece.
