Are people living in health board accomodation / council houses allowed to beg for income on the side? A family I know are doing this so I'm curious.

I thought the HSE was setup and all health boards were abolished.

Are the Health Boards still around?

Begging is not a crime, they changed the law recently afaik.
I predict 7-8 pages of the usual AH reactions ahead

Is there a real difference if I used Health Board or HSE to describe the scenario?

I think you may be right about the decriminalisation of begging though. I'm just pretty curious as to the legalities, so to speak, as to actively begging while living in this accomodation. No big deal really.

I don't know about if is allowed or not but I don't think you should let it bother you.

Dont think thats possible. Not sure if begging is decriminalised or what the standing is on it tbh.

Yeah I know, its not like its keeping me up all night or anything but I have to admit that it does irritate me when you and your partner work hard to get a home somewhere nice and someone else gets the same one for pretty much nothing, then you see them begging at some traffic lights. I find it frustrating I guess....

Probably a sign of the times but yesterday an Irish fella in his 50's came to my door selling kitchen cloths and sponges. He said he'd just lost his job. If he lost his job he should be on social but I guess he needed the extra money, problem is I didn't need any sponges!!!

:( Things like that upset me. Because there are people put there that genuinely want to work & with the change in the economic climate jobs are being lost in all sectors which leaves people that have worked all their(SIC?) lives & are close to retirement but are let go.
