Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

A button to paste the post you're replying to in quote tags?

A lot of the time when I'm replying to a post, I want to quote bits of that post and reply to them seperately. Usually, to do this, I hit Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C at the start and then erase the text within the quote tags which I don't want. To reply to further points, I hit Ctrl-V and edit out the text I don't want for my next point, and so on.

What happens sometimes is I'll copy and paste a link or quote from somewhere else and lose the original post from the clipboard, which is annoying, since I then have to open the thread again in another tab, click reply and copy the post again.

What would be nice would be a button (And if possible, a keyboard shortcut), that would automatically paste the post you're replying to in quote tags into the reply window (Or in the case of multi-quote, the string of posts you're replying to).

    Thanks,
    JC

Why not copy the opening quote tag and paste that a few times in between each new quote you want to make. Its hassle yes, but can work quicker than pasting & deleting the post every time. Its also available to you when you want to re-copy it again after pasting links/other content from sites(Ie without opening another tab/window). Once the post is ready, CtrlC the end quote tag and CtrlV it at the end of each 'mini-quote'

    Just a suggestion.

FWIW, I paste a post into notepad, then cut/copy bits out as necessary. I suggest you do the same.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
