Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Condoms and pill question.

Can I add a question to this post? Hope you don't mind.

My GF is on the pill but we still use condoms to be extra safe because we're both a bit paranoid about pregnancy. I've always wondered that supposing the condom split or came off on the way out, would most people be of the belief that, 'sure she's on the pill, I wouldn't consider the morning after pill'? It has yet to happen but that'd be our view on the matter because the pill has such a high level of prevention. I mean, there are people out there who rely on the pill alone. Any thoughts?

If the condom split or came off and she is taking the pill regularly, without fail and hasn't been sick in the previous 24 hours, then I would be of the opinion it would be ok..

If she's on the pill and the condom breaks i definitely wouldn't worry,
I'm on the pill and i use nothing else and i'm always fine!(touch wood!)
No need to put her body through the MAP sure isnt that just a more concentrated dose of whatever's in the pill?

I didnt think there was any need for the two..you have me paranoid now!

The morning after pill is ridiculous over here. Don't you have to go to the GP and get a prescription before you can get it? So you're paying for the GP visit and it. We should adopt a scheme like England where the pharmacies give it out by themselves, with some (Superdrug), giving it out for free if you have a consultation with the pharmacist.

My girlfriend is on the pill but we once thought it best to get the morning after pill. We had the consultation and the pharmacist told us there was nothing to worry about, as she had been taking it regularly, but gave us the morning after pill just because it would put our mind at ease.

The MAP really messes with your hormones and shouldn't be taken lightly.

As said above, if she is taking the pill regularly and has not been sick in the past24/48 hours there should be nothing to worry about.

The pharmacist told us all the side-effects. He also gave us a mini-brochure and went through it with us before we all agreed it was ok for her to take it.

    1. You're using condoms.
    2. She's on the pill.

Let's assume the condom breaks and the pill isn't working. This is extremely unlikely, but anyway...

    3. She needs to be ovulating when your sperm is in her.
    4. If two fertile people have (unprotected) sex when the female is ovulating, the chances of getting pregnant are only about 25% or so. These are pretty low odds, and they assume you are fertile.

In conclusion: you'd need to be amazingly unlucky to get your girlfriend pregnant using your current system.

    Don't worry about it...

If she hasn't been sick or taken certain types of antibiotics.

    as mentioned above....

drinking alcohol can sometimes affect the pill, as you are more likely to pee it out deoending on the time of day you take it, and also, antibiotics stop the pill from working, so always remember that.

    Indeed,
However i would expect the girl to know about this already. As she is the one responsible for taking the pill. And i dont mean that in any type of sexist way what so ever.

When you say that if she's sick, are you suggesting that general sickness lowers the effectiveness of the pill or talking about antibiotics affecting it in a round-about way?

Ha, I was going to start a simialr thread. Im on the pill and when my Bf and I have sex, we always extra safe condoms too. (Even still I do be a little paranoid about it all and have a sigh relief when "that time" comes around, while the BF does the opposite!lol)

Personally, I would be able to rely on just the pill but ots great for those who can/do (Both of us are just super paranoid!) We don't even have full intercourse as much as we would like to due to the worry...

I was gpoing to post about this paranoia and how many people use only one type of contraception but saw your thread and I always wondered the same and though about what we would do it (touch wood it never happens) but the condom was the break or slip off or whatever... I don't think I would go for the MAP (presuming I hadn't been sick, on anntibiotics, missed a pill etc etce tc - us girls have alot to deal with and remember!lol)

I would worry until I got my period but I think deep down I would know Im safe. I know some people would go for the MAP anyway to put their mind at ease but its alot of hormones and if your already taking the pill......... Maybe though if it did happen I would take it, hard to call, but I think I would be ok to rely on the pill in that case though...
