Transition is in a field. A muddy field.
    It always rains.
    Swim is warm.
    Bike is flat.
    Run has one hill.
    Post race party doesn't happen.

Tunneys view might seem very sharp but he is pretty much on the ball. Different group of Cork Tri people organising it this year, afaik, so there might be some changes but it does seem to always rain.

Last year, things were not helped because it was on the same day as the lee swim. They synced calendars this year.
I like the bunch organising it this year so that should be an improvement. Nothing inherently wrong with the previous organisation but it always felt a bit rude and inflexible.

I rarely go to post race parties so I can't comment on that.

If you have more specific questions you might get better feedback.

    thanks for the info...

i guess i was really asking how hard it was. flat cycle and one pretty tough hill seems fine though :)

its my b'day on that day... i have a feeling the weather will good :)

Well from my point of view, ive always really enjoyed this race. Cycle is fair and the run is tough. There is a bit of a pull out of the transition on the run aswell as the big hill. And i hate the jellyfish down there :(

You could always have a look at a few Irish triathlon club web sites and see if there's any race reports on Kinsale.

    cheers folks...

4 weeks away now and im in great nick, swimming is coming along nicely and bike is superb too.

im sure il enjoy it no matter what, even if it rains (i love running/swiming in the rain... although not as much on the bike!)

Glad to hear it's going well for you. Will you be completing or competing?

completing i reckon. my swim is a weak point. its come on a lot, i couldnt do 500 meters this time last week. i can do 1K now but im now too quick. my goal is to finish under 1 hour 20. may be more like 1 30 though.

Well amazingly it didn't rain (at least not until the last man was home safe and sound). How did you get one bananamansgay?

yea what a day we got! fantastic weather....

i did it in 1h 34mins. a little disapointed because im pretty sure i could have had a faster cycle.... the swim was horrific too lol but m deleighted i did it and will defny do another one :)

the whole thng was really well organised too imo.... and kinsale is a beautifl little town, great food, good nite life too...

    did you compete hunnymonster?

No I was marshalling (car park and then out on the run at the corner into Sandycove). I'm absolutely useless at shorter distances so try not to embarrass myself too often!
