Anyone know any really good songs that they'd like to share. I need new songs!! Softer kind of Sufjan Stevens David Gray Damien Rice Duke Special Ryan Adams Simon and Garfunkel cellos pianos bla bla bla with hooks and really good well written songsthat aren't so well known and out there or famous. or even if you know any really well written brilliant songs that don't fit this category.

Not too fussy but hate songs that are just not good for example Bright Eyes are great band but for example Four Winds they wrote is a badly written crap song. Random example but nieh.Go on ye must no some.

Help would be great. Haven't heard a good song in a while

ps Brett Drennen Ain't No Reason is a really well written good song I think.

Antony and the Johnsons - My Lady Story

His voice is really.. different and it takes some getting used to, but when you do... Man, what a great band. A very sad story..

    <edit>
Antony And The Johnsons - Fistful Of Love
This is a better song, lyrics are quality.. if they are what i think they are about

Nick Cave - Anything really ... thats me saying anything really, it's not the name of a song ... but try The Best Of or No More Shall We Part.

I don't know if the following constitute not well known or famous but in terms of artists rather than songs perhaps you could check out stuff by

    Nick Drake

Stephen Merritt : Magnetic Fields or the 6ths ( lo-fi indie pop )

belle and sebastien are worth a listen - I recommend tigermilk as their best album

Midlake have some good songs - roscoe , head home ( excellent harmonies and quirky lyrics )

Wilco . check out the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or Ghost is Born albums

Got given an album by Bon Iver a few day's ago and I have to say it's excellent. It's definitely one that will grow over the next while.

+1 for The Decemberists - anything from The Crane Wife, Colin Meloy is an incredible songwriter

    May I also recommend
Some early REM stuff e.g. Perfect Circle, So. Central Rain
Fionn Regan - anything from the End of History (The Underwood Typewriter is my personal favourite)
    Sigur Ros - Hoppipolla
LCD Soundsystem - New York, I love you but your bringing me down (quite different to their other stuff)
The Guillemots - Made up Lovesong No. 43
    Richard Hawley - Coles Corner

I agree definitely with Our Life Is Not a Movie by Okkervil River, as well as 23 by Blonde Redhead.
Invalid Litter Dept. by At The Drive-In
    Alone Again Or by Love

More or less everything by Elliott Smith (LA, Somebody That I Used to Know, Independence Day, Bled White..) and the Cure are a great source for pop tunes.

If you're a fan of Joy Division rip off tunes then you could do worse than to listen to this song.

If you really really like Joy Division and hate all the bastard incarnations then it's probably best you don't click the link. (Hi Dudess)

I really like She Wants Revenge, picked up thier album after I hear their song with Timbaland, which is great. The lead dude has a very sexy voice. The only problem is a lot of thier songs sound the same.
