Rumour has it that at ufc 88 Anderson silva will step up division and fight liddell. What a fight if it happens - i dont think the ufc could pick a matchup right now better then this

I reckon GSP vs BJ would be better but thats just personal opinion the chuck v anderson fight would be great also
But all rumour until actually announced so don't get too excited yet !

I'm not so sure. dana White seems to be totally against fights between weight classes.

Either way I think the fight between Silva and Liddel is far more interesting than GSP and Penn.

    Peace

Chuck and Silva will be a decision win for Silva unless Chuck goes for the takedown out of frustration. Silva is too fleet of foot for Chuck to land anything cleanly or frequently. GSP versus BJ is a more competitive fight both standing and on the ground. I still feel GSP will win a tight decision.

I was at the Q&A with Chuck on Friday and the training seminar on Saturday. The jist I got was that they are planning on maybe Rashad next and then a big fight for new years eve.

It seems to be very unlikely that Anderson will be moving up or fighting Chuck anytime soon. Chuck vs Wanderlei Silva would be a lot more likely because they have to do that fight again at some stage

Yeah apparently they're finally looking to book Silva v Okami.
Anderson was beating the **** out of Yushin before he got DQ'd before and I don't think all that much has changed. If AS wins it can't be long before he moves up.

I don't see Chuck Vs Anderson happening. It makes no sense.....Chuck is putting them away at LHW and after Forrest Vs Rampage, if you put Chuck against Anderson, your missing a legit challenger for a belt at 205.

Wandy needs another win in my opinion.

IF the fight were to happen Chuck can win it as a wrestler, not as a striker i feel.

Would much rather see Champs clear out divisions before fighting other Champs myself.

BJ has a lot of prospective fights at 155, GSP has some good prospects at 170. However, a fight booked between those two right now will sell.

Consider this from a money point of view. Despite being one of the top P4P fighter in the world, Anderson does poorly in PPV. No one wants to see a rematch with Okami as he is considered a boring fighter, and no one gives Okami any chance. There is no one else at MW that offers a challenge or a marketable matchup for Anderson until GSP moves up. It appears Wandy wont be moving down anytime soon, following his Jardine fight.

On the other hand Anderson vs Liddell would do huge numbers, and Andersons PPV could be signifiacntly higher for subsequent PPV following the fight. Thats only one of many intriguing matchups at that weight.

From what I've heard, the UFC has too many issues with Anderson at the moment to reward him with such a big fight. Apparently he won't let up on the Roy Jones Jr fight. I'd put money on Anderson vs Chuck not happening anytime soon

Your logic is a bit faulty. They gain nothing from punishing him for wanting to get a big payday and to compete against a challenging opponent. A fight against Liddell satisfies both of those aims and should be a moneyspinner for UFC to boot. If the UFC were to take a more belligerent stance as you suggest, Anderson could leave, take the boxing match or worse join a rival mma promotion.

I imagine Affliction would welcome an unhappy and unbeaten in his reign UFC champ with open (sleeveless) arms.

It's not my logic, it's the logic that people who talk to Dana on a weekly basis hear! They've still got Anderson under contract, so I don't think he'd be stupid enough to walk out having seen what Couture's had to go through

There's always the possibility that Chuck would beat Anderson, which would just bury the middleweight division which is already seen as weak compared to others. I think they've still got a chance at making it mean more so that's what they should work on for now

If it were to happen I could see Anderson KO chuck. A Silva's standup is incredibly fast, accurate and is dangerous from outside and in.

His submission game, if it were to go there, is better than Chuck's too.

I would love to see this fight though.

    p.s
Don't count Chuck out though - he could always break out the " Hawaiin Kempo Thumb" :p

Or his wickedly powerful overhand right.........

U overplayed your hand and showed your hate for Chuck hence do you not think that your judgement on this is a bit biased no?

Anderson is the more technical of the 2 but Chuck has savage power, u cant count him out with that asset.

I'm afraid your wrong there. I don't hate Chuck. I've never met the man.
You're right about his power though, it is savage. Look at his 1st KO of Couture.
