  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭alastair_doom

Click on the sale link, then click on DVD on the banner. When the page reloads, on the banner in almost impossible to see white font it lets you see DVD's by category. Select TV Boxsets, Then order by price....

    or click the link: http://www.asda-entertainment.co.uk/asda/asda/offers/sale/dvd/tv-boxsets.list?sortOrder=price&sortReverse=false

Cant see any mention of an offer on the site, but when i add 2 items from the sale to my cart, it seems to take a pound off the combined price. Which is nice.

Delivery to Ireland? Yes? Green wing season one and two and peep show season one under 8 euros. good shows. jimmy carr stand up a fiver

Most of these are on sale @ the same price from http://www.thehut.com/hut/home.dept (run by same company I think) except they charge 99p delivery per item.
They have a 10% discount on all items until 15:00 Friday 13/06/08, Code: SALE10
By my maths that means its cheaper to order here if the item costs more than £9.90.

The Hut + the 'sale10' 10% discount makes games good value. Boom blox for ~€40 delivered. No More Heroes for ~€30

Hi all, just wondering...does asda-entertainment.co.uk really do FREE shipping? I remember my mate mailed them and they replied saying that only UK and Northern Ireland was FREE shipping and they had charges for Southern Ireland. Anyone here gotten the free shipping???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭Ryaller

I bought a load of DVDs from them last week. Definitely free shipping. You sometimes have to wait for them to get the stock in, but they send each DVD individually as they become available, and don't charge you 'till they've dispatched the items. Great service.

Defo FREE shipping. Can be a bit slow though

My order shipped, all in one going by the email, but i was charged in two transactions of equal amount to make up the total? Is their any reason behind this or what? I have used them before, and never was the case just seems a bit strange

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭blastman

They will ship all items separately, less likely to attract customs attention. I presume they then have to charge the same way becasue that's how their system does it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,340 CMod ✭✭✭✭Davy

But i only got one email that it was dispatched with all items.

The Sharpe boxset of 15 full length movies is 25stg.
Saw it in xtravision for 40euro today.
Both prices are amazing for what you get.

These guys and the similar sites like Play, The Hut, etc. have always, always sent items separately regardless, and I've bought a lot of stuff over the years. I'd say you'll be grand.

Just ordered Peep Show Season 4 for £4.43 (€5.62) - delivery was free. Play.com are selling this for £7.99 - and I'm sure I've seen it locally for €25.

Now, let's sit back and see how the service works out... :)

Do Asda prices include UK VAT or do they ship from Jersey or somewhere like that)? So if I order something over the customs limit can it get caught for tax and duty or not?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 327 ✭✭Cassiel

There might be an issue if it is for an individual item is of a value high enough to be of interest to customs. All the DVD's I received were from one order and all were shipped individually and the value of each recorded on the address/customs label.

They did have a customs label so they were not sent from within the EU.

You can go into their sister site Thehut.com and order. 99p Delivery charge per item added on though.

Have done that, thanks very much.Have seen some discussion here regarding duty, did not think there was duty within EU.Not within a reasonable value anyway.

Import duty only applies when ordering something from outside the eu.

Yeah, their site said UK only when I registered, but I ordered and got my order anyway!

Ada and The Hut seem to be one and the same. Their offers are always identical and I recall sending an email to The Hut a few weeks ago inquiring about the availability of a game and I got a reply the next day.......from Asda

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

Whenever I bought DVDs from Asda, I never had a problem. It could be because they dont deliver here anymore.

Oh yes, the old "sort by price" trick, an essential weapon in any bargain hunters armory! :D
