This is probably too late but I'm gonna post it anyway so maybe you will have time to cancel your order.

This only matters to you if you are planning to play MGO with friends in Europe. MGO will be region locked - split into 3 regions (or so I believe) Europe/Australia(PAL), NTSC (America/Canada) and Japan (what is their region code again?).

The region will be decided by the region of your game.

    Source:
Anyone hoping to save a few bob by picking up an import copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 should beware, as Metal Gear Online comes with an online region lock.

So Ownage.nl is reporting, anyone looking to import a copy from the States or Asia may want to think twice about it.

Although both Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online will load up as normal (as you’d expect from a PS3 game), anyone looking to play MGO online will find themselves restricted to playing against gamers from the native region of their copy.

In short then, if you were to buy an American copy of MGS4 to play on your PAL PS3, you’d find yourself restricted to playing against American gamers. Alternatively, buy an Asian copy of the game, and you’d find yourself facing off against rivals from the Far East.

The fact the game is to be released simultaneously worldwide on 12 June does remove a lot of the appeal of importing, of course. However, with potential savings to be had by importing a copy (provided the Customs lot don’t notice it on the way through), there may be those among you tempted to pick up an NTSC version.

If that’s you – and assuming you want to play the game online against people from your own region – then you might want to bear that in mind.

This is not 100% confirmed but we will find out for 100% in a couple of hours?

I've ordered the Asian special edition. It's only an MGO starter pack that ships with MGS4, so I'll probably pick up the full-featured MGO from the Irish PSN network when it's released.

No, you're fine. Play.com have the PAL version of the game meaning you will be able to play with people in Ireland/UK.

    Europe/Australia(PAL)

Nice so the Aussies out looking for servers will see loads of 1000ms European servers.
