I heard on the radio that Dun Laoghaire Rathdown co.co. has approved a scheme to install electric car charging bays - first scheme of it's kind in the country.

    Anyone know about this?

Does anyone here own (or even know anyone that owns) an electric car?

    Is this all 'green' madness?

Maybe they're for the little green one that's always parked in Blackrock.:)

Maybe could be of use to more than just new EV buyers.

    Hi there ,

We have been lobbying hard to get these charging bays in Dun Laoghaire and hopefuly some more will appear in other county councils and even possisbly in petrol stations.

The idea is that politicians recognise the fact that most cars will become electrified in the near future and do not want to get into a chicken and egg situation (imagine if they were no petrol stations !)

Most manufacturers have commited to produce electric cars for 2010 so it makes sense to jump ahead of the pack and show signs of encouragements. London is now the EV capital of the world and has ten different brands available, no congestion charge free parking and charging have encouraged this a lot.

The green one in Blackrock is called Apple by the way! :D
