Don't wet yourselves with excitement just yet, because "no time frame for production and release has been set" but the mere fact that the blue gnome's are destined for the big screen is surely worth celebrating. Or not.

Anyone a big smurf fan? Or are you like me, dreading the thought of smurf mania being revived.

but seriously smurfs had its day when i was a kid i don't think its going to make a good return. but you never know it could be freakin smurf.

No casting decisions have been made or director chosen, but the studio is in negotiations with David Stem and David Weiss, the writing team behind both "Shrek" sequels and "The Rugrats Movie," to pen a Smurfs screenplay.

Well that says it all really fo me. I cant see this being a big hit with the older fans but it should entertain those who werent around for it the first time. I personally cant go to see it as I cant even look at the little blue dudes in the same light after seeing some smurf porn. Odd stuff.
