Call 1800 944 034 and press 2 and then 2 again - Tech Support should tell you what's up with the modem!

it only works on 3 credit 10euro 1week, 25 for a months acess, you can sell it to any1 ,like a phone, i think you buy credit, go 2 my3.ie to input credit.why would a shop in eire sell a modem that only works in the uk?UNLESS you bought it in the 6countys,up north.you have to activate modem by going to 3website put in sim no ,then prepay credit 12digit code.

It sounds as though they simply did not update the literature for Ireland (or else you bought it in a dodge shop). In any case, as it's 3, you can use it here without penalty, as it comes under the 3 Like Home deal. However, if it is an actual 3UK issue, topping it up might be difficult.

if i can use it here without penalty that would be great, you buy by the gigabyte there, not by the time, so instead of €25 for a months mobile broadband to do a few remote terminal sessions and get some email i can just buy a gig of data for 13 euro

That leads me to an interesting question. My understanding is, if you have a 3 modem on 3 ireland and it's bill pay, then you can use the 3 like home roaming but if it's prepay, you don't get the 3 like home thing. So, if it's a uk one and it's prepay, will it be the same, meaning to use it down here will incur roaming charges?

I dont think so, once you have your bundle you can use it on any 3 network. The availability and charging of data roaming also applies to Mobile Broadband and the USB Modem. In 3 Like Home countries, data access works exactly the same way as it does in the UK. Bundle allowances apply and all the charging is at the same rates as in the UK. All the internet services work, including X-Series.
    · What countries can I use it in?

3 Like Home: You can use it in countries where there is a 3 network. These countries are Ireland, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Hong Kong and Australia. Note that when you are outside 3 coverage, you may roam onto another network where internet access is charged for at £3 or £6 per MB.

Prepay does not incur roaming charges, just like contract. Work away.

You can use it without penalty as part of 3 Like Home. BUT, note that the UK prices are not quite the bargain that 3 Ireland offer. Even on contract where we have 10GB for 20€, their best deal is 7GB for 25GBP.
