Just a heads up. Yesterday my msn hotmail account was hacked into, my password changed and my secret question to reset password changed to chinese. After a prompt reply from MSN support I can now log back into my account. The following is the automatic reply that they [scum] set up on my account.

    Be warned.

"If you believe me, please do not hesitate to visit their website, if you have the confidence to buy, please contact them as soon as possible, I can use my personality guarantee that they are the best, thank you!
please visit their website. The website is :www.ioffar.com
You also can contact them by email or MSN.
    Their Email is:ioffar@yahoo.com
    Their MSN is :ioffar@live.cn"

There are many ways to do it, and a magic program is not one of them. Probably got it phished.

doubt hotmail was phished, espicially by yayamark's friend twice

you could have checked your mail from a pc that has a keyloging virus

might be worth your while chatting to ASJ

Did you use one of those supposed "block checker" websites? Apparently they were saving logon information and later leaking it. A friend of mine used one and on several occasions her account was logged in to Windows Live Messenger with her name changed to the address of the website.

Hi, my hotmail account has a virus. It keeps sending out this email to my contact list:

    Hey,
    how are you doing recently?
I would like to introduce you a very good company and its website is www.kzhxw.com .It can offer you all kinds of electronic products that you may be in need, such as laptops ,gps ,TV LCD,cell phones,ps3,MP3/4,motorcycles and etc........
You can take some time to have a check ,there must be something interesting you 'd like to purchase .
    The contact E-mail: kzhxw@kzhxw.com MSN: kzhxw@hotmail.com
Hope you can enjoy yourself in shopping from that company !
    Regards

My 'vacation' automatic reply was turned on and was sending this. I switched it off and now when I click on 'compose new message' the message is already in the text box!

I have changed my password and don't know what else I can do? I have Sophos anti virus as well as Spybot search and destroy but I am not sure if a hotmail account can be searched for viruses by these programmes?

Any help would be appreciated- I feel like shutting my account down now :(

The account can't have a virus per se. I'd say that your password was stolen somehow. If you've changed your password then you should be ok, just be careful what sites you give it to. Check your secret question to see if that's been changed too.

Thanks for your help, i've changed my password and secret question so hopefully that will work. The only other thing is when i go to compose a new email the virus message text comes up and i have to delete it before starting to compose the email. Is there any way to get rid of this??
    thanks

Sophos antivirus does nothing against email viruses. I used to be a UCD student and installed sophos as UCD IT support advised me to do. My ucd email over the four years when i was a student was spammed so much that a lot of the time the mail would not even load up. Avoid.

    Milly,

Did you check your signature in Hotmail to see if that still has the message in it? It's in the settings as "Personal e-mail signature" under "Customize your mail."
