Just a question on what Id be charged for something.

I found out that a weekend return ticket from limerick junction to belfast is €90 if your a adult and €45 if your a student.

Im just wondering now because im 18 and doing my leaving cert, does that mean I can get the student ticket, I tihnk once I heard you need some student ID or something.

Also Im sure I could get away as a 16 year old or something, should I just buy a child ticket instead?

Like twice the price is a big hike up,

    advice anyone thanks

You need a student travel card for student fares as far as I know

yip get yourself a student card.... print the form off the net and fill it out and then get your school to stamp it and sent it to dublin and in a few weeks you will get the card... also check if limerick uni do the cards... bring in the forn stamped and ou should be fine...

also look up the weekender card...

You should get a student travelcard immediatly. Forms are available from all major stations. You can send away the form in the post (12e) or you can get it done on the spot at the places listed on the application form (15e).

You won't get away with a child ticket especially with that length of a journey. Even if you got away with it at Limerick and managed to get through Heuston and Connolly, I guarantee they would stop you in Belfast (its happened a lot before).

No once you're over 16 and attending school/college you can get one.

Ok ill get one of those then thanks, my cousin from germany who is 17 is also coming on the journey.

Will a child ticket be ok?, like there hardly gonna disagree with him if he says he's 16 or whatever the age limit is.

???? They will look for proof of age if you have a child ticket and look even remotely close to 16, especially on a longer journey such as that one.

Pay the full adult price. Its peoples tax money that make up that shortfall, don't be an idiot. Besides you WILL end up getting stung at some point in the journey.

the age is actually 15. under 16 same with buses. annoying

    Q. What are the age requirements for Child Tickets?
    A. Children aged five or more and under the age of sixteen years of age are entitled to purchase a child ticket or fare.

i dont have a student card this year and when my car broke down id book the tickets on the net as a student and they wouldent ask for my card... most of the time its half price...

i know im 17, and am having a lot of problems getting away with child fare recently. i think it's ridiculous being asked for id to prove you're a child. why would you have one if you're a child?

I think the idea is that if you want concession tickets (child, student, weekender) you need to bring ID. You should get a student travelcard. You can make back the value on a single trip anyway.

You have to be 15 for a child ticket, thats why they ask YOU for ID. Because you're not a child anymore.....
