It's easier and cheaper to take stuff back to Maplin. eBay is for the brave, experienced or foolhardy.

Or maybe for those of us who are a little more money wise than yourself , saw a particular device in Maplins for €480, got the same item delivered to my door from a German company for €275 .

But if you are happy to be ripped off, good for you

I wasn't talking about the Excellent Germans, but eBay. Any item you should of course shop around.

Many uk shops. e.g W&S , Nevada etc, now have eBay shops. As you say it pays to shop around ,I know I have saved hundreds of euro through eBay & buying on line , I always buy from companies I know about , both eBay & otherwise

If you're looking for a decent budget scanner- how about a Yupiteru 7000/7100 they're a bit dated but really really good. I got a 7100 from Israel on ebay a few months back- including shipping it came in at about EUR145 (with an extra antenna and rechargeable battery pack). Its unlikely you'll find any local though.

Re: the Weirwei- I've got one here, avoid........
