    Hi,
    I am traveling to Malaysia and wondering how much cheaper it would be to buy the like of a canon 400d there.

    Also this will be my first slr is this a good choice or would anyone be willing to make a suggestion for me.

    I bought that model in Kuala Lumpur in April this year and I saved myself over 150euro (can't remember the exact amount). Make sure you haggle, even if buying in a Canon store. You can always get a cheaper price!

    So far so good, although I have yet to read the manual and have it on auto most of the time. :o Has taken some great photos around Asia.

    I read reviews before I bought it and I think the main complaint was that if you have big hands it can be a bit fiddly as its small enough. Doesn't affect me!

    proudly telling OP what a lucky man you are!me a malaysian randomly see this thread showed up on the main page of boards!:D

    i didnt buy my canon in KL(kuala lumpur),but i used to work in IT hardwares store back then.famous place to hunt down eletrical hardwares would be Imbi Plaza,lots of IT stores based in the shopping complex.Try the Sungai Wang area too,just beside the imbi plaza.

    Pretend that you really know everything of the camera thingy,get a RRP guide from online store,and yes,haggle,poor student /i will introduce my friends about your shop etc always get you a cheaper price :D
