hope I'm posting in the right forum......

anyway, i'm arranging a night out for 5 people at Johnny Foxes Glencullen. I was wondering if anybody has any clues how much a taxi/hackney would cost to pick up in Dublin city centre (6pm) and drop off at Glencullen, then collect later (12.30am) for one drop-off in Blanchardstown?

Or if anybody knows a good place to go to get a fixed price for such round trip, that would be much appreciated.

thanks in anticipation of your help......

Phone up any of the Taxi / Hackney centers in the city and ask for a quote. If they give you a quote they are obliged to follow up it provided that you don't incur any additional charges such as multiple pick ups / drop offs and puking all over the back seat

Yep, ring up and ask for a quote, shop around.

    Welcome to boards.

Quoting of fares only applies to hackney's and limos. It is actually illegal for a taxi to quote and apply a fixed fare for any journey unless a passenger specifically waives their right to have a fare charged on the meter; this must be done in writing and with the journey fare and details. Worth noting that the driver is NOT obliged to agree to the fare you were quoted; he is providing the service and not the despatch centre.

As an aside and to answer the OP, I'd guess at about €30 for the outbound trip and about €50 back to Blanch assuming it is straight there; more if you have others to drop off.

How come many taxi offices have set fare rates eg some central city Limerick taxi offices would have fixed price rates to Castletroy, Corbally and Garryowen, the prices marked on a board in the office. There is no difference to this than quoting a price. I would be very reluctant to getting into any taxi worth asking for a ball park figure particularly on a long distance run.

Are they cab offices or taxi offices, or a mixture. As stated Taxis can only offer off the meter fares when certain criteria have been fulfilled, waiver forms etc. Hackneys and limosuines don't have to, instead they should agree a fare or basis for the fare before comitting to the hire...
