It's the worst 15 minutes of the day and occurs smack in the middle of some noctural thread browsing.

What do you do to pass the longest quarter of an hour of the night?

multi-tabbed browsing ftw. not to mention gettin your cuppa in, and checking out all the youtube links you'd intended getting round to watching, but coudlnt, cos you were reading/replying to something.

Is that what that is? I thought my work computer was getting touchy because I'd been on boards for too long.

    Greetings from Brisbane!

I tend to panic and press F5 repeatedly.
Getting quite late/early, and a bloody bird just came a hairs breadth away from entering my open window. Should possibly consider going to bed...kinda want to go for a cycle first though, but can't. I'd feel strange cycling past a primary school :(

In true multi-tasker style, Im usually doing a few different things at the same time; regardless of the slow-down.
    • Reading a book
    • Making up my earlier referred to runny egg and crispy rasher sambo
    • Flicking round the telly-box
    • Grooming maself
    • Fetching more tea / drink
    • Visit the lavatorium
    • Cleaning / tidying
    • Browsing other sites

    Super woman tbh :pac:

I remember in the old days (when I was a night worker) when the backup took about 45 mins. That was hell. It was also conveniently in the middle of my shift and was when I got all my paper work and floor walk done :D

Every night around 3:20am (I think) boards.ie goes off-line for about 15mins whilst a database backup is made.

Nearer 03:45 these days, seems to be drifting +20 seconds or so each day( will soon be a 4AM backup

    I generally cry non-stop for 15 minutes.
Or, alternatively, I go and tinker with my bebo and various other crappy messaging-site profiles.
OR, and I do this quite often, go to wikipedia and click ''random article''. Highly recommended.

    Heh.
The Doctor Who Wiki has to be one of the most criminally underrused websites of my life.
I'm going to use it far more as of NOW.
Also- random google- ''I'm feeling lucky''

Did it happen at about 11 pm today?? I could have sworn boards went down at around that time.

TBH I didn't know they were doing a backup, Suppose I really should have figured that out though, it just used to piss me off so much, cause thats usually when I remember what I wanted to look for on adverts.ie :( .

Sleep is for wusses tbh :p

Don't be alarmed by the time of my post, my curtains are firmly drawn.

The backup usually catches me by surprise. I'll either go down to the factory floor and have a bit of a chinwag or carry on with whichever "legally downloaded" tv series I'm currently watching ('The Wire' for now - class!).
Have also been known to have so many tabs open that I don't realise it's happened!
