Volume on NTL DVR

    Have NTL dvr box about 8 months now and just got a new TV (it's a toshiba but shouldn't make any difference).

    Went through the routine of holding down the OK button and the red button together and then putting in 911 and pressing the up channel button and it been partly successful.
    I can now turn up the volume on my TV but can't turn it down or mute it :(

    Spoke to NTL and the customer care rep challenged me as to where I got the information to do this myself as it should only be done by an NTL approved engineer and I'd voided my warranty but I pointed out to her that it's all written down on the customer information leaflet I got with the DVR box when it was installed.


    Anyway, just wondering if anyone had a similar problem and found a work-around ? I've done it twice and still no way to turn volume down without using TV remote and NTL have no advice to offer (apart from that I should sign up to a new 12 month contract to get a whole 1 months DVR box rental free....yes 5 whole euros)!

    Have you tried any of the remote control codes listed for Toshiba TVs in the manual?

    Link in case you don't have it.(last couple of pages)

    Try the code 993, should work better!

    Toshiba codes for Universal Remote:
