What think ye of casual games, are they to be frowned upon by the more serious gamer as merely a housewife's or househusbands distraction from the ironing, I bought a few of the casual games off Steam, Geometry wars is fun but it's a bit hard I find, Peggle is great craic I could probably while away a couple of hours on it, free ball ftw woot, Rocket Mania is very good too, I shall probably buy some more, I wanted puzzlequest but at 19.99 think it's a bit overpriced for what it is, maybe i'll treat myself though.

    Haha buy games

I think anything that doesn't involve violence would be used for casual playing for me.

    I love Peggle, I'm a horrible person.

Peggle rocks. I bought Trials 2 from Steam and it was ok for a while but I quickly got bored of it.

... did OP just call Geometry Wars "casual"?

I think I see where this is heading: "It doesn't have 3D so it's casual!"

Seriously, there's no such thing as "casual" games.
It's a term "hardcore" fanboys invented so that they could feel superior to other gamers.

i'm big into casual games now, sure I still play a lot of serious, story driven games but its nice to just sit back and play a few easy going games for an hour or so.

On the PS3, lately i've been playing these games I got off PSN, Dark Mist, Super Stardust HD, LocoRoco and Super Puzzle Fighter II

On the PC i've got Bejeweled and Peggle.

I define a casual game as one I can just pick up and play whenever, they are, for the majority, not story driven and have a control system that is easy to pick up and remember. It doesn't have to move at a snails pace to be casual. Other games I'd view as casual would be lemmings or tetris. These games can have a fairly fast pace but I'd never consider them serious games.

I love casual games, you know the type, you change into a loose pair of chinos, a smoking jacket and your comfy slippers and relax in your leather armchair, smoking cigars and drinking a nice glass of brandy before popping on a quick game of Uno on XBLA followed by a spot of billiards in the billiards room.

Don't know how casual Peggle is either. I've lost hours of sleep to the whole "1 more achievement" thing late at night. Thank god that's over with now.
