Two of the best live shows we have had the fortune to produce in recent years, puts us in the position to be able to promote both The Breakestra & Hypnotic Brass Ensemble together in one exclusive show on June 26th.
The Breakestra as you probably know are one of the finest bands out there when it comes to funk, no strangers to Ireland, they sold out The Sugar Club on their last visit and the Spiegeltent a couple of years before that. A new album is coming out this summer and we have an exclusive new track "Lowdown" to give you from this forthcoming release.
Led by Music Man Miles, son of Fred Tackett of Little Feat fame, and Mixmaster Wolf on vocals, The Breakestra started out in Los Angeles at the Good Life in the mid 90's where bands like Dilated Peoples and Jurassic 5 were cutting their teeth.
The unique aspect of their show is the seamless interchanging between classic soul and funk numbers from yesteryear..Cramp You Style by All The People, NT by Kool & The Gang, Funky Drummer by James Brown all are given The Breakestra work out with uncanny precision...in almost the same way as you would see Grandmaster Flash or Cash Money cut through a DJ breaks set in the same vein.
