So I notice that Mitchell has called for a ban on political advertising on public transport ( specificly taxis ) Right or wrong, or is it just that they are worried they are losing the vote and are clutching at straws, after all don't the parties themselve advertise on buses..

Please move if required as I wasn't sure if AH or European Union or any of the myriad threads was best, but as taxis get such a slagging on here I thought here myself..

That's the woman who came screaming and shouting at us "you're vandalising someones property" - as if we were doing it without asking! haha! What a load of bull! We got permission, if it wasn't us putting them on, the taxi drivers would of done it themselves. We were just saving them the bother of getting out of the car. Hey Mitchell if you don't like freedom of speech well then resign because you're not wanted here! :D

Taxi folk have to pay for a license to operate & the vehicle itself is not government owned, so as far as I'm concerned they can put whatever they damn well please on their vehicles.

Well within the confines of public decency obviously....
If it's no worse than the cover of mags they leave out on the shelves in the neewsagents then fair enough.

Spook, do something useful instead and advertise Boards! You can be the official Boards Taxi. I can only imagine it will lead to fame and fortune*

Well I suppose if the taxi men had their cars plastered in posters for their local FG candidate come general election time, that'd be different!

This smacks of censorship. It also smacks of Big Brother. It smacks of Michael McDowell. It is unbecoming of a political representative in this modern enlightened age.

Olivia Mitchell is the lady who would fill the bus lanes full of private cars if she were elected. Someone worth listening to indeed.

There's a Dublin City Countil mini Daihatsu van type vehicle sporting a Vote Fianna Fail sticker since the last election, I would have thought having publicly owned vehicles supporting political parties would have been illegal, apparently not.

Do you really think it would be possible to get any sort of ban through in 2 days?

2 days to ban or not isn't the question, should political advertising be banned on public Service Vehicles such as taxis, buses etc. if it should be then why not bus shelters, train stations etc. or is Mitchell wrong to try to censor opinion if it isn't to her taste?
