    Hi all,
Thinking of joining the club in tallaght anyone have any info on them, from what I hear they seem to be good.
Met 2 lads the other day in the park and they talked well of them. Only relalised who one of them was after they left one of our top runners, sound bloke indeed.

    :pIn reply,
Yes, a very go ahead club in terms of facilities etc.
Just about to lay the new tartan track there or have already started. At present it is a cinder track. Also top class lights and modern changing rooms, gym ,kitchen etc.
Even have a caretaker to keep the riff raff away!!!
Athletes include Sean connolly,Anthony liegio,Tomas Fitzpatrick,Brian Greegan,David Byrne and Niall Coppinger.
Providing you are not looking for a coach as its pretty much left up to the lads themselves.

OIdea was to get some coaching at least, was talking to Pat Hooper last night and might go to rahney, its a bit far but once or twice a week would be ok .

Raheny are a great club and super coaches. They badly need a new clubhouse and a track. All the big clubs should have even a 6 lane tartan track.
But its not worth travelling if a club is not local. Coaches I believe in general are overated. Can you not coach yourself? What is your goal?

Go is a 5 mile Pb so sub 31 mins, but thats a year away , jsut go give you an idea of my standard now, i ran rahney in 49 mins so a long way to go , 4 months later i'd prob run about 39-40 mins. So tem mins in 4 months is an ok return .

At the moment i'm jsut getting fit and getting rid of extra weight

I know form the past when i was coatched i did run a lot better, it was prob more the fact I was running in a group, and some of these would have been top class. So that brough me on a lot.

Best thing to do is join a good local club with lots of lads so. Do what they do in sessions etc and you will improve very quickly.

Plenty of seasoned athletes ( overs 50,s) in Tallaght ac doing sub 30 min 5 milers. Speed sessions on Tue and Thur nights , plenty of people to advise you on sessions, once they see your level. Tartan track will be in in next 2/3 months. If its closest club to you, mad not to join, best facilities around.

I'm a long time member, currently out injured.

Think i'll pop down and get started, I'd say i'm 18 months off a sub 30 or even a 32-33 , but will see how it goes ... Going better then expected at the moment so we will see.
