Damp marks on ceiling

    We have stipiled ceiling in bathroom and have had to put in vents as black marks on ceiling, would anyone know how to remove these before we paint it. Many thanks.:)

    Mildew? Mould? Make sure the area is dry, then rub off as much of the blackness as possible with a dry cloth/rag. Then treat the area with diluted bleach (careful with your eyes, since you'll be working overhead). This should shift most of it. Try sticking a coat of paint on....if the stains bleed through, then you need a coat of stain blocker or to paint it with some oil finish to seal in the stain, then paint over it...

    I completely agree with Wertz's advice.

    As well as poor ventilation, I think black marks and flaking on a bathroom ceiling or walls can often occur if it wasn't painted using bathroom paint. So obvious as it sounds, make sure to use bathroom paint!
