RAW + Jpeg?

Hey folks, I've been searching online for an answer to this for a while now but I can't come up with anything, hopefully somebody here can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I've got two cameras, a Canon 40D and a Nikon D60 and today I've been trying out the RAW+JPEG mode. On the Canon I'm using RAW+L(high) and on the Nikon it's RAW+BASIC. The problem is, when I connect either camera to my pc there are no RAW files, just two identical JPEGs. Where are the RAW files gone?

    Any help greatly appreciated :D

It's probably down to the software you are using to copy from the camera. It may only read jpg, or may only take the first image (of the same shot) it finds (ie it takes the jpg and leaves the raw behind).

    Not totally sure though.

Try to format the card using the camera (dont do this before you get the pics off), maybe that will help. Also try to change your folder settings in windows to display hidden files and folders. I dont use cannon though but its just a though.

I think it's possibly my pcs fault considering it's the same for both cameras.

Paulw: I don't use any software to copy the files, I just open the camera in my computer and drag them over.

DjDangerousDave: I always have hidden folders shown and I've just formated the D60, still no joy

Ok, I got it. I just had to install the transfer software that came with the cameras. Doh!

Still though, the files should be there on the card. Each camera has a different raw file format. For example my olympus makes .olr files. Glad you got it sorted. I hate installing bundled crud though.

Yeah I know, it's a pain. I'd much rather just drag and drop like I usually do. I must try it on the other pc to see if it's the same.
