keylogging software?

Hi, i posted yesterday, (donno if in the right forum)

about hacked hotmail account, they got the password somehow and keylogging has come up as a possible way they got it. Could this be the case and what should be done to prevent this happening again. (using an apple mac btw)

i presume you've contacted hotmail and asked them to suspend her account? Is it possible to open up her messages and read them or are you completely locked out of hotmail?

the fact that the found out her password would lead me to believe that they have a keylogger on her machine. Dissconnect form internet, get zonealarm firewall and install. get spybot and some really good antivirus, see if you can clear it up.

Yes she contacted hotmail, but they havent replied yet, the messages cant be opened up because the password has been changed, the secret word is in chinese now! Thanks for the reply, will most likely take it to an expert now, as dont wanna be messing with it and maybe feck it up totally.

The problem could be due to a backdoor bot. Did your sister download any zip/rar files on msn from friends, with a message like "hey is this you" ?
