satelite receiver

    hi got satellite receiver connected to the tv via scart, noticed that there was white lines going across the picture from left to right started getting worse and i was getting interfernece from another tv channel 9tv30 in the background. i changed the scart lead and the ext i was putting it i the back of the tv and it seemed to solve the prblem for a ouple of weeks however the lines have started going acoss the screen again any ideas?

    Have you got a mains extension lead nearby?

    the tv, satellite receiver are plugged into the wall. shud i try them on an extension lead?

    Eh no, reason I mentioned mains block was sometimes these radiate and give the lines you described, if there is an extension block nearby disconnect it and see if thats helps.

    would that cause tv3 to be seen in the background too?

    Sounds more like badly shielded cabling unless its a plasma or projection tv and you have screen burn. Does the background picture change?

    no just tv3 all the time, its probably the scart, have a fully shielded one ill try another scart see how it goes

    Can you change Sky to operate on a different frequency/channel number?
    I think its possible, but I'd have to go home and read the manual...but some of the guys here will deffo know!

    Maybe terrestrial TV3 is operating on a similar freq and your somehow picking up interference?

    Years ago I had a similar problem with a VCR. Also, when the VCR was powered off I could sometimes see a channel coming through in the background very faintly. Re-tuned the VCR to operate on another free freq and that solved the problem...

    If he is using a scart leading changing the RF output channel will make no difference

    hi changed the scart lead seems to have solved the problem, funny thing is i was originally using one of the gold plated shielded ones, put cheap one in from argos hs done the trick thanks for the help

    Some of the expensive fat gold plated scarts are just bling, some are not even individually screened.
