Lost all my firefox bookmarks & toolbars

My laptop crashed so I restarted it. When I opened Firefox after restarting, it acted as if I had just installed the browser. My laptop crashed so I restarted it. When I opened Firefox after restarting, it acted as if I had just installed the browser. Seperate tabs opened up telling me my extensions (installed months ago) had been installed successfully. All my bookmarks are gone, all the quick links on my toolbar have gone too.

For the last few hours MSN hadn't been working, when I was signing in and it got to the stage where it signs you in and shows you your contacts, it kept crashing. Tried to uninstall it, the uninstaller crashed which led me to restart the computer in the first place.

What. the hell. is going on.
