quick question.i was looking at an 1980 karman golf cabrio and am not sure if it is a karman or just has the body kit stuck on.the badge on the back says gls and on side karmann, owner says all golf cabrios were karmann but i dont think so,theres about a 2 inch gap between the bumpers and bodywork, can anyone shed any light on this any tell tale signs to look for?

As far as I know (but I could be wrong) the owner is right ...all Golf cabriolets were built by Karmann
    VW Golf I Convertible 1979 - 1993 388.522 Units
    VW Golf III Convertible 1993 - 1997 129.475 Units
VW Golf IV Convertible (Base Golf III) 1997 - 2001 82.588 Units

I recently bought a 1996 Cabrio convertible with 83,000 miles on it for my fiance. It has the Karmann badge on the fenders and the Karmann logo on the roll bar.

First, what is Karmann and what does the package include?

Second, does it increase the value of the car?

I havent' really been able to find anything on it anywhere, please help!!!

    Thank you in advance.

Karmann are coachbuilders, the Karmann badge means that the body was built by Karmann. Unlike Ghia, for example, it has nothing to do with trim levels.
