    Hi
I have this HP nc4400 laptop.
the LAN card on this laptop does not work.
Not sure when it went off.
The inbuilt Wireless card works fine, so i never bothered.

    the problem is-
when i look at the hardware profile, the card is in yellow, listed as unknown devices.
i looked at HP site for this model and downloaded Broadcom netxtreme ethernet controller driver.
i installed but still the card is in yellow.
i dont know which card is it and what drivers does it need

    any help?

    Go into Device Manager.
(Right click on my computer,go to properties, hardware then click device manager)
Right click on the device ,it'll be under network adapters.

Choose uninstall and then reboot the machine.
Windows should pick up the device,I assume you're using XP.

When did this start happening? If its a long time ago a system restore probably wouldnt help.
