A lot of online travel agencies are already doing this for you as it speeds up processing at security. Last year booking with Expedia; I gave them my passport number and the name and address of the person with whom I was staying. When I turned up at the airport security already ahad the information they needed and was paut into a 'faster' queue.

As Superscouse said, it won't be in force until next year but I imagine that all operators will work it like Expedia and the traveller won't be obliged to contact anyone in US Immigration directly themselves.

You can read about it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_Waiver_Program#Electronic_System_For_Travel_Authorization

It will involve going to a US goverment website and filling in the information. Not much different from what Australia require for entrance.

What Ponster is talking about is Advance Passenger Information (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_Passenger_Information) which will still be required.

The ESTA is intended to eventually replace the green immigration form (I-94W), but at least for the initial period, you'll have to fill that in too!

    Cheers Buffybot !

I see that the initial registration is valid for 2 years and multiple entries.
