    I'm hopefully going to be getting a PS3 sometime between now and MGS4 launch. I'll be hooking it up to my monitor so I'll be going dvi. Need some help getting the actual cables and adapters needed.

    Wheres the best place to go to get the following as cheap as possible
    Hdmi Cable
    Hdmi -> Dvi (male) adapter
    Hdmi DVI switch (if such things are somehow reasonably priced now)

    If you know where to get them in Dublin that would be great, but im willing to order online and wait a little. And of course they need to not screw up the encryption and that...

    I will be forever in debt to anyone who can me all 3 cheap.

    Not trying to be smart or anything but have you tried Google?

    Got my HDMI cable in Tesco, for something like €7

    What did you type into google to find that. Cheap hdmi cable ireland... anything hdmi ireland only found me rip-offs. Never seen the hdmi cables in Tesco but thanks anyway, 1 down.

    Alright... so it's mock the guy week.

    That cable looks fine. Never inclined to trust ebay when buying unbranded things.

    Komplett: I was looking under cables/adapters ... silly me.

    The Peats switcher is a HDMI switcher... gah i mistyped i need a dvi switcher really. I would need a dvi female -> hdmi male and a hdmi female -> dvi male adapter. Not optimal but it's an option.

    That hdmi -> dvi cable looks perfect. Shipping pushes it up to €36 though.

    Forgive me for being so lazy as to think a forum like this would be filled with people who had to do exactly what I'm doing and could help me out and save me time and money... but thanks for the help.

    Sorry bro
    Problem is, is that most of these types of questions have been asked many times before and it is often good to give some links to stuff, that you have found, then ask if you are getting good value
    Also, for people here to give you the answers, they would have to do the same searches that you would

    Any way, I would suggest the Tech forums. Much more top of the head knowledge there.

    Just checking but does your monitor do HDCP?

    Replies so far seem a bit harsh?

    Skip the middle man.... get a HDMI to DVI cable http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2703 Thats about €7 delivered, but you wont get it for about 2 weeks.

    Make sure your monitor supports HDCP.

    Switches probably wont come cheap, this should do it, but postage to Ireland is crazy! Less than £2 to UK, £17 to ireland, ask him for a more realistic price!

    Ok... got it and got everything setup.

    Got the €9.99 hdmi cable in Tesco. Had trouble finding it. It was hanging on the side of where the 5m Philips Hdmi cable (which was €29) and kind of blended in.

    Couldn't find a Hdmi -> Dvi adapter anywhere for less then €25 so i wen't and bought a Hdmi -> Dvi cable just to simplify things for €29 in Peats.

    So Tesco €9.99 for 2m HDMI cable.
    Peats/Dixons for €25/€29 Hdmi -> Dvi adapters.
    Peats for €29 2m Hdmi -> Dvi cable.
    Dixons for €200 Monster HDMI cable :D

    Now i just need that Dvi switch as swapping cables is already driving me stark raving looney. I figure I can hold off for something like that one on ebay you linked or a KVM style one from ebay when a decent one shows up.

    Thanks for all the help guys, one happy gamer here.

    You are aware that HDMI carries the audio as well as video?
    However DVI doesn't.

    You will get picture [if HDCP compatible] but no sound. You will have to connect your optical out to something.

    Yeah the HDCP compatibility had me scared 2 years ago so i held off on buying a monitor until it had HDCP.

    I have the sound coming out on the composite cables rca's and with an adapter put through my pc's aux-in. It's messy but it works with only 1 set of speakers.
