I live in a 2 bed apartment with a small main bathroom, if i have the bath removed and replaced with a shower will this be a problem if i at some stage want to sell up?

Why have either or? Its not uncommon to have your shower over your bath. Below is just a random pic, but can be done quite tastefully.

A bathroom without a bath will devalue your apartment in the eyes of most future buyers, so I'd keep it if you're concerned about resale value!

Don't get rid of the bath. A lot of people (such as myself) wouldn't dream of buying a place if it didn't have one. Like someone else said go for the shower over the bath option.

I have a bath in my new house and the wall is only tiled up half the wall. If I put a shower over the bath will all the wall need tiling?

ideally yes - right up to the ceiling. unless you want the water to drip through the floor below... Remember even if that part of the wall doesn't get wet, steam will still condense on it and create water droplets. If left to dry on a standard wall you can get mould and damp issues which is unhealthy and unhygenic. Personally for a bathroom with bath or shower i would aim to tile as much wall space you can afford.
