1901 Book

Hi,

Came across a book called Tarry Thou Till I Come. Hardback from 1901.
Author George Croly.

On the very first page inside, in pencil, is written " A.W.D. July 4th 1905 , First Bismark"

The 1905 bit i'm not sure about, it could be a 1, its a slightly diagonal slightly wavey line.

Anyone any ideas about this? I've searched and only found reference to the Bismarck ship, but even that only came about in the 40's.

Could be something interesting, likely to be nothing, but I'd still like to know if anyone has any thoughts on it.

Check the 4th postcard down on the right. That's probably your ship.

Would have been one of the following two (if 1901 the former, if 1905 the latter):

Although a German line, they did Southampton - New York, and even Cobh - New York; I am guessing AWD was a passenger.

But i know nothing about the book.
