    Dar She Blows!

Pearlburst with Drop sonic. I Lurve it. I can see where petrucci is coming from with the mahogany flavour in the new ones though, This has a definite strat edge to it, very bright but it can handle stupid gains. I LOVE the middle setting. ITS SO STRATTY

Nice one. That axe is flavour of the month around these parts. Good call on the inlays, it looks much nicer with the dots, IMO.

Sweet guitar, if i could only afford one of the buggers, heres a question though. On some of the petruccis the bridge pickup is one way and in others its flipped the other way around. Anyone know why its like that?

I'd imagine it's for a different sound when using the middle position. I can't I've notice that blade being at the bridge but I haven't been paying much attention.

John Petrucci prefers the sound of it with the blade facing towards the neck on his 6 strings, so all JP6's are shipped that way, but on his 7's he likes it with the blade facing the bridge, supposedly it's a little muddy otherwise.

If a pickup is asymmetrical (different each side) turning it around can make a fairly significant effect on the tone. So ts just another little tweak some guys like to mess around with.

    Slightly off topic....completely off actually.

How exactly do you post a pic up here that doesn't become a link like the op?

Sorry to be a complete idiot, but who makes OLP???.

    Never heard of them...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

Musicman makes olp, tis like sqier and fender, or epiphone and gibson.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

No, Ernie Ball don't make OLP. OLP employ factories in Korea and China to make guitars. They pay money to EB to make guitars in the same style and with a 'licenced by' logo.

Its different to the Gibson/Epiphone situation because Gibson actually own the Epiphone group. The group that own OLP don't have anything to do with EB, other than licencing the guitar shapes.

The OLP MM4 is great! I have one. This guitar plays itself. I must have used in every single genre at this stage
