leaving job off CV

    Guys a quick one

I changed jobs two months ago for one that sounded better (IT Related), i get a good vibe from teh manager and the stuff he spoke about re training etc made it look like the right move for me.

now two months on I'm bored sh*tless, the training is non existant coz the OS on teh servers is dated and no sign of upgrading. any upgrades that have been approved I've bought the hardware in for and have been told continuilly to hold off on it. I spend most of my day on boards or fighting sleep.

on top of teh the manager passes paperwork on to me that IMO he should be doing because it's related to the whole business and not just the IT function, and when i've asked questions on it he can't answer them.

so my question is this do i put them on my CV? I'm thinking no because I'm studying at nght and can use teh excuse that I left teh last job to complete my exams/study etc. Or do I leave them on because teh recruitment process can be long (only started looking last night) and it could end up I'm there 4 months before i get an offer.and if i leave them on what should i say to a potential recruiter?

Well I know a number of people who have done so. Really depends on how your CV fits around it. If you find that you can get another job quickly, depending how the dates work it might appear for instance that you just took a month off. Just make sure whatever way it works - you get your story straight.

I've seen similar things where I work - where a few admins left or didn't continue their contracts because they were sold a pup - being told they'd be working on the latest stuff and ended up supporting a ton of NT4 servers. Its very short sighted on the company's part.

that's pretty much it, well not NT4 but a VoIP that noone knows anything about and we can't get training on, critical upgrades that are needed (server with 10% capacity left) and being told to hold off a month or two.

going on past experience it took about 2 months to get this job, so that would mean a 4 month gap. i guess i could tell a fib and say it was a contract.

Around this time of year you could use the excuse that you took time off to complete exams for the course you're taking

I wouldn't worry too much about having a small gap on your CV, just make sure you have a "reason"!

    Good luck ;)

I'd leave it on - better in the long run to be honest. Make sure you have positive reasons why you want to leave your current job e.g looking for greater career advancement etc.

    Hi.

If its your last job will it not appear on your P45 that you will be handing in to any new employer?

I'd leave it on and when/if asked, state the truth and say that you're an ambitious person and the job turned out to be not what was originally promised.

i removed a job from my cv and it in no way affected my ability to get a 2nd job. I had a serious case of bullying from a boss and left after less than a month. it made me re-evaluate what i wanted to do career wise so i took 2 months extra before deciding and getting another job.

the new job was perfect, and proved to me that the problem was with the old boss and not me. still, as it was only 3 weeks of a job i decided not to put it onto the cv. id rather talk about my relivant work expirience and build myself up in an interview, not talk about a dodgy boss i didnt hit it off with.

I have gaps on my CV. I always get asked about them in interviews. The reality is I just took time off to do nothing!

I reckon you could leave the job off your CV. As you'll be giving your P45 to the accounts people, it's unlikely your manager will find out.

You're just unlucky that the job hasn't worked out. You shouldn't be punished for it.
