:confused:I have never understood why people go "unreg" for issues in the personal issues forum and not expect people to know who they are?!To explain i mean that say someone hides their name but discloses all other facts about their relationship that would make it easy for anynoe thats reading, to spot who it is if they happen to know the person...can someone explain??

Not sure if suitable for this forum so if not, apologies :)

Even if a person who is directly connected to the problem works it out some people could be posting here for years and like to keep their private life private so an unregged account stops regs from here working it out too

for instance, everyone will know say dear Ruubot (only for example purposes) felt like asking for advice about coming out of the closet. You can see why he may wish to ask those kind of questions anonymously.

Sys>Feedback would be better for this thread btw

    edit: Help Desk then

Also even if anonoymous usernames are used here, you might often find yourself meeting people from here. Could be boards beers, selling on adverts.ie and there is a soccer team and a cycling group.
People can post some brazen or controvisal views here but would you go to a meetup and stand over all of them?

I've bought and sold stuff and adverts.ie and you can be sure if I do a deal with someone then I'll be checking their profile and past posts to see anything dodgy. I'm sure they do the same on me (man, I post some rubbish here :o)

So it's best to keep your username and if you have a problem then go unreg.

I get what you are saying about giving way too much details but remember, only a fraction of people in Ireland actually use this site so your partner/friend may never even see it

    Why? It's not really 'feedback'

I'd be very suprised if the stuff written on PI didn't ring a bell with quite a few people, many of the problems that crop up there are stuff that everyone goes through, i.e. "I love her so much yet she wants to be friends"

oh yea i know, i dont think its the same person at all but it got me to thinking!

and RedXIV- yea the main story is usually the same but some people say stuff like their age, all their relationship history(how many years and how they met and stuff) and then go onto to talking about a specific problem theyre having at the moment.

i was just thinking how awful it would be if you came on here about a personal problem in your relationship and someone-especially your other half- realised who you were.....just thinking

It's happened. Often with humourous results.

Didn't Dev say something on the recent podcast about someone posting in PI bitching about their spouse not realising that they were a member of boards and they got busted? I wouldn't imagine that's the only time it's happened either

We've had one once with a good ending. i remember a girl looking for a guy and was slightly devestated she didn't get any contact details. he turned out to be a boardsie and they are going strong still
