Im just about to book a sun holiday for week starting june 15th for me and my boyfriend. Just decided today. Some of the options are peurto del carmen in lanzarote, kusadasi in turkey, . Both of these at the moment are under 300 euro. Just wondering which one to choose? or any other recommendations/ suggestions for a nice week in the sun?

I liked Puerto Del Carmen, I was there in January and I believe it gets very hectic in Summer, but it is still early enough that you will probably beat the hoardes of tourists. The food is really good and the nightlife is pretty lively too. There should be enough to keep you entertained for the week.

Personally in the Canaries, I preferred Playa Las Americas in Tenerife, I felt the food was slightly better and there was just a little more to do, It is walking distance to another resort, Los Christianos, so you are getting two resorts for the price of one!

Have never been to Kusadasi, so can't comment on that, not a place that has ever madly appealed to me to go to.

I've been to Kusadasi twice. It's very nice, the shopping is amazing. Loads of fake leather handbags in particular. I didn't go as part of a couple though, so I can't comment on that.

You can go to Ephesus which is really interesting. The bars are cheap and the food is quite nice.

    Hope that helps!

I'd say Kusadasi, there's much more to see and do, especially if you're interested in history etc. There are some great sites that are well worth a visit, just a short journey away on a lovely air-conditioned bus! I was there a couple of years ago, I just think its more interesting that the Canaries, some of the other places have a really 'samey' feel about them, Turkey is different.

Just a quick one on Turkey I am thinking of heading there myself in August, but does anyone know if you need an entry visa, buy the way its a toss up between Turkey & the Algarve at the moment, both seem pricey enough though

from what i can remember i think you just pay 10 euro upon arraival at airport & they give you a visa, no problems getting one.

Both sound pretty good, but I would be inclined to choose Kusadasi. I've been to Turkey a number of times, but to the Fethiye area - to Ovacik and to Calis Beach. For me, Turkey never fails to please - the people are so cheerful and friendly, lots of dancing, fun, and good fresh food. I'm sure Kusadasi will be just as good.

Think you made the right choice.
I have been to Kusadasi 4 times and would definitely go back again.
Try the Sari restaurant in the town it is fantastic.
    The markets there are brilliant.
There is plenty to do and see there.
